Docs / Install the Agent

Install the Agent

The Agent is free and needs no key. Install it on the server running MariaDB.

Windows

  1. Extract SaintBackup.Agent and run install-agent.cmd as administrator. The SaintBackup Agent service is created and restarts automatically if it stops unexpectedly.
  2. Open http://localhost:8730.

Step 1 — Backup account

Create a dedicated account with only the privileges needed for backup:

CREATE USER 'sb_backup'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'mật-khẩu-mạnh';
GRANT RELOAD, PROCESS, LOCK TABLES, BINLOG MONITOR, SELECT ON *.* TO 'sb_backup'@'localhost';

MariaDB earlier than 10.5.2 uses REPLICATION CLIENT instead of BINLOG MONITOR. The Check connection and privileges (Kiểm tra kết nối và quyền) button reads SHOW GRANTS and prints exactly the GRANT statement that is missing.

If the Agent connects via 127.0.0.1 but the user is declared as 'sb_backup'@'localhost' (or the reverse, ::1), MariaDB may treat them as two different hosts. If you get "Access denied", create an additional user for the correct host.

Step 2 — Sharing scope

Tick the databases the Center is allowed to see. The Center can only choose within this scope; databases outside it are never backed up, even if the Center requests them. The mysql database (accounts, statistics) is always included because it is needed for prepare and restore.

Step 3 — Pairing

See Pairing.

Backup tool

The Agent automatically looks for a mariabackup with the same major.minor as the server in C:\Program Files\MariaDB x.y\bin or /usr/bin/mariadb-backup. If it is installed elsewhere, enter the path in step 1.
