Restore on the Center

Rebuild a database at any point in time held in the repository, into the MariaDB running on the Center machine.

Steps

  1. Center → Restore (Khôi phục). Choose the Agent and database (or All databases in the backup (Tất cả DB trong bản backup)).
  2. Choose a point in time. Green points are already prepared — the fastest. For other points, the Center rebuilds from the full backup + the incremental chain up to that exact point.
  3. You can restore only some tables: enter table names separated by commas.
  4. Name the new database (suggested <db>_yyyyMMdd_HHmm). When restoring all databases, use {db} in the name, for example {db}_khoiphuc.
  5. Click Start restore (Bắt đầu khôi phục). You can close the page; the result is sent to Telegram if enabled.
SaintBackup never overwrites an existing database. If the name is taken, it reports an error so you can choose another name.

What happens inside

  1. Copy the prepared backup (or extract the full, prepare it, and merge each incremental).
  2. mariabackup --prepare --export to create the .cfg file for each table.
  3. Create the new database and run CREATE TABLE from the structure included with the backup.
  4. InnoDB: DISCARD TABLESPACE → copy .ibd/.cfg → IMPORT TABLESPACE. MyISAM/Aria: copy the table files directly.
  5. Count rows in the 5 largest tables to cross-check.

Getting data back to the source server

Version 1.0 restores on the Center. To bring a table back to the source server, export it from the restored database (for example with mariadb-dump or Navicat) and load it into the source server. Pushing directly back to the Agent comes in a later version.

Restoring an entire server (the source machine is completely dead): see Manual restore, the copy-back section.
